Philosophy and commitments

Restoring, yes. But not just any way.

Saving a church also means choosing how to restore it. Here are the principles that guide the works, from the plaster to the orchard.

Here, no plasterboard to hide the damage: we treat it, we heal it, we strengthen it. We use breathable materials with thermal mass.

  • Local companies

The craftspeople and companies working on the church come from the area: the works benefit the region. You will find them on the partners page.

  • Local, natural materials

Lime, clay and flax plasters, hemp-lime: breathable materials with thermal mass, where cement used to suffocate the brick and stone.

  • Oak made in France

The joinery is made of oak, manufactured in France.

  • Nothing thrown away, nothing broken

Everything that could be reused has been. The high altar was carefully dismantled, piece by piece: nothing was smashed with a sledgehammer or a hammer.

  • A permaculture orchard

Around the church, an orchard planted using permaculture, in the spirit of Saint Plük, the gatherer.

  • A welcome for cyclists

A bike park inside the church, an access ramp, the cycle route 2 km away, and the “Accueil Vélo” label in the works.

We look after our travellers. Like kings.

  • A warm welcome

Every traveller is welcomed and shown quickly how the house works.

  • Your questions

    We answer all your questions.

  • Ideas for activities and visits

We suggest activities and visits in the Somme.

  • A table for the evening

    We find you a restaurant.

Meet the people who make the project happen.
